Let’s talk for a minute about Florida’s craft beer scene. I recently took a trip down to the Fort Myers area of Florida, with no intention of turning the trip into a multiple brewery, multiple city, trek throughout the state, but that’s just what ended up happening. The trip was a whirlwind consisting of visits to Tampa, Miami, and Sarasota, as well as a number of places in Southwest Florida. In all, I managed to visit 20 different breweries over the course of a week; some amazing, some just ok, but none bad…well none awful at least. Here I want to give a little wrap up of a fantastic trip. Continue reading Florida Beer Trip Recap
I’ve neglected this site for far too long. One of the reasons for the absence was an amazing trip to the beautiful island of St. Lucia. A fantastic trip full of incredible views, delicious food, cold beer, and abundant adjectives apparently. For the purposes of this site, let’s focus on the beer. Continue reading St. Lucian Beers
Let’s talk for a minute about Vault Brewing Company. Buying and trying craft beers, IPAs being the biggest example, has become a ritual of stalking the social media pages of breweries, waiting for a release announcement, and lining up, for hours on occasion, to pick up the newest and freshest beers. This is not a complaint by the way. There is something very enjoyable about grabbing friends, hopping in a car, and road tripping to a brewery to wait in line to snag some beers. I’ve met cool people and had great conversations in these lines. From time to time though, there is something to be said for just showing up, picking up beers, and getting on with your day. For me, enter Vault Brewing Company… Continue reading Vault Brewing Company
It’s only fitting that I do my first review on probably my favorite local brewery out of Fairfield, NJ. Magnify Brewing has been making some good noise around the area and it may have to do a lot with their New England style of brewing. There hasn’t been a beer that I’ve had out of their camp that I have not seriously enjoyed I’m excited to see how Magnify continues to grow and progress. Let’s get into the beer no? Continue reading Hype Train
The Guerillas are back at it and we got some company. DSquared and I brought our better halves with us (wifeys) on our beer journey up north to our beloved breweries. This is pretty exciting because who doesn’t want to share their passion with their significant other right? Anyway, thanks to DSquared impeccable planning and research we were able to hit quite a few breweries in record time. Continue reading Road Trip!
“You’re going to drive 6-7 hours just to go to a brewery? Are you serious? What’s the point of that?”
I recently faced some version of that question from a couple of different people recently. The answer was almost always the same: “yeah we are, you just don’t understand. It’s not like going to a regular brewery.” Truthfully, the answer is far more deep than simply driving a bunch of hours to go visit a brewery. The breweries in question in this example were The Alchemist and Treehouse Brewing (both of which were probably worth a drive of twice the distance honestly). The trip was about far more than going to get some beers that I have wanted to try. Continue reading The Beer Life Isn’t For Everyone
